Went here for a vendor business presentation/lunch and was very impressed! We were immediately shuttled to a back room by the helpful staff out front, so no wondering around hoping I was in the right place. The ambiance was great – beautifully converted old warehouse with plenty of upscale touches. There were breakfast drinks and snacks available I had a blueberry muffin, which was exactly as a muffin should be, not too dry and not too cakey. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful when needed, but hardly noticeable and not in your face at all the rest of the time. They subtly took our lunch orders as the presenters began their welcome slides. The four-course lunch itself was quite good! We started with a tasty salad, enhanced by quinoa and avocado. That was followed by an excellent ricotta gnocchi in tomato sauce. The main I chose was salmon with perogie and brusssels, and I definitely did NOT have ordering envy. The salmon was cooked beautifully with a crisp outer layer, and the accompaniments really played well together. Finished off with a seasonal fruit plate, which was super fresh and delicious. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because my vegan colleague didn’t seem to have many options (although vegetarian was available) I highly recommend George’s for any catered luncheon!
Reservation for 2 for my husband’s birthday. Server explained 5/7/10 course options. We opted for 5.
Served amuse bouche – so-so.
App: Me something with grapefruit and dijon mustard seeds – strange texture, Him fish souffle.
2nd App: Me lamb pancreas (sweetbread) jam tart – tasted like farm hay, Him pigeon (squab) with strange sauce.
Entree: Me wild boar and sweet potato – I tried one bite oft the meat and couldn’t eat it, Him extremely rare lamb – he hates to waste food so ate it begrudgingly.
By this point both of us were feeling very sick. The manager came over and offered beef with asparagus and complimentary wine accompaniment. We appreciated this gesture, but were so sick we couldn’t eat it. We both needed to go to the restroom.
When we returned dessert: Me marscapone cheesecake with raspberries, Him apple something. He tried to eat his and left most on his plate. I asked to take dessert home, as well as the beef and cheese plates that we didn’t eat.
The bill came to $381 with tax and tip. ($135/person plus $8 beer, $20 6 oz wine).
Service was good. I emailed the manager to let him know we were both sick and to look into possible food issues. He assured there wouldn’t be – it was just us.
I paid for the birthday meal, but my husband was unhappily surprised when he heard the price.
Wish we had ordered a la carte. This way we would have had a meal we chose and the price probably wouldn’t have been as high.
Had a great four course meal here for a corporate event. Not only was the food fresh and delicious, but the service was outstanding and the bartender was great. I don’t usually order cod, but the curry sauce was a nice twist to elevate the dish. The beef was extremely tender, I used my butter knife to cut. Will definitely be back should I return to Toronto. Oh- and the bread
We did our mini wedding of 35 people here and it was amazing. Everyone enjoyed the food so much that they were still talking about it days after! I would give the food and services 5 starts but I took 1 star off because the event coordinator was not very communicative and very slow at replying. We had to poke them multiple times to get info/answers. It was pretty annoying and added stress to our days, but because our wedding was so small and minimal and didn’t involved that much work, we just let it go. If I were planning a big wedding with lots of moving parts and vendors, I would be having a bad day for sure.
Amazing service and food quality is top notch. Tasting menu is a must try along with their cocktails. Pricey for everyday dining however.

Came here to celebrate my partner’s birthday. We did a 7 course meal that took 3 hours total. The long wait between courses was not worth the underwhelming flavours we were about to eat. Food presentation was beautiful though. Our server was nice and they gave us fresh plates between each course which was great. The decor and atmosphere is beautiful but the air conditioner was blasting and it was freezing inside. I was really looking forward to this place and am genuinely sad it was disappointing.
Lovely anniversary dinner. Fresh and creative ingredients. 7 course were explained well but too bad I couldn’t do it justice by retaining all the dish details.
Attentive waiter that spaced out the meal. We left stuffed !
They accommodate all dietary restrictions and did an excellent job of showcasing a range of savoury dishes.
Would recommend for all special occasions. We enjoyed watching the kitchen staff put together fancy plates from our table. It’s white table cloth setting yet relaxed and not overly pretentious.
A few plates were not very inspiring (see the dessert and amuse Bouche photos) but the rest were quite tasty. Very rich sauces.
Enjoyed our experience and overall would recommend.
Amazing! I really appreciate that there is a vegetarian option for the tasting course, and that it was so diverse and inventive!!!!! I also appreciate when restaurants/bars make fun, more elevated mocktails. Delicious and highly recommend!
George is a Toronto icon and gold standard for marking any type of special occasion, or if you are well-heeled, it’s simply a great vibe and dinner spot downtown.
Since I was celebrating a milestone and on top of that always wanting to try George for myself, it was a natural choice for an epic night out.
We dressed formally which I found added to the atmosphere and made the evening feel even more memorable and special.
The menus consist of the dinner choices which are either à la carte or chef’s tasting of 5, 7 or 10 courses, then there is a cocktail menu, and as well a wine menu. We noticed that other tables had a sommelier assist in their wine options, and we were left wondering where the choice was to have that service added to the experience as our server didn’t mention it.
The restaurant was full booked with no empty tables and plenty of staff running around trying their best to keep up. They did a great job of keeping us happy and without any real distractions allowing us to enjoy the experience and each others company.
The 5-course dinner and drinks were brought out at a nice pace with only an occasional lull over the entire time we ate. The table was booked for 8 pm on a Saturday, and I had also booked at a lounge for after dinner thinking 10:30 pm but we didn’t make it until almost midnight so keep that in mind for planning your evening.
The 5 courses were a perfect way to experience George. The variety was good and the amount of food was perfect. It didn’t occur to us that the 7 courses would have been any advantage. Presentation was beautiful, and it felt nice having each course include an appropriate table setting. This was all done without us being distracted and having to break and lose focus on the conversation. That alone made our evening at George memorable and well appreciated. The description of each course from our server was difficult to understand as it was spoken too quickly, included a fair number of words to parse (each person gets different items), and of course the mask didn’t help. It would have been better if they had the items written down to help us appreciate the ingredients better.
We had a couple cocktails each which were very good! Careful as these full size cocktails can be very strong and the first one I had went straight to my head. Also keep in mind the restaurant is fairly large and thus had some moments with a chilly breeze where we sat, likely from the door opening.
Overall George was a fantastic experience and made me super happy with my choice for a memorable occasion evening out.
My sister and I Recently had the opportunity to try George Restaurant and we were not disappointed. Our party of two were celebrating a birthday and upon finding out the waiter was kind enough to start us off with a glass of bubbly.
The waiter recommended the 7 course tasting menu as the 10 was too much and he had never seen anyone finish it. We appreciated his honesty and ordered the 7 and it was the perfect amount. Normally everyone is served the same dishes but were happy to find out that each dish was different and that we’d actually try 14 dishes instead between us. We were happy to try different dishes and were relieved to find out that we didn’t have to share the foie gras as we got our own. Each dish was beautifully plated with a mix of flavours and textures and kept us guessing what was next. Similar to what other reviewers noted, the dessert wasn’t anything to write home but still enjoyable nonetheless.
Overall we had a great experience and would love to come back, this is a great place to spoil yourself.
